Essentials Oil Recipes
Essential oils are a God send! They are a gift from Him. Literally. They have been used since biblical times and are often written about in scripture! I can not say enough about them. During my struggles with Crohn’s Disease they have helped my tremendously in so many different ways. I am not one to sell or push product. I do not like multi level marketing structures and I do not do well with trying to sell a product. However, I can’t help but to promote these oils. There is no pressure from me at all to purchase or even use these, but I only recommend one kind. Young Living essential oils are the only thing that I will use or suggest to use. That is because I believe that they are the purest kind on the market and it is proven because they work! To learn more about them or to purchase them, click here. If you want to try essential oils and chose to try a different brand just make sure they are using pure forms of their sources. I don’t care if I ever make a penny from selling with Young Living, I honestly just want to help people feel better. So, please don’t feel pressure to purchase.
In my post about essential oils, found here, I discuss my recovery from laparoscopic bowel resection and stricture removal. In that blog I posted, what I think, is a powerful message about the healing properties of essential oils. Since then many people have been asking me for my specific essential oil recipes that I use for various ailments. So, TA DA! Here are the formulas that I use the most.
I have tailored these to what I know helps me and my families personal needs. I cater these to us without being too strong or too weak. It takes a bit of trial and error to get the formula just right. So, let me just say that these formulas are not set in stone. You can certainly just use these as a template to go from and tweak and tailor them to your body and needs as you see fit. You need to listen to your body. Be aware of side effects and pay close attention to how these oils affect you. This will help you in determining the dose and duration of how you use them.
Listed first below is the recipe that I used when healing my infected abdominal incision after my surgery.

Step 3: Drop in 5-10 drops of Frankincense (to calm inflammation and help eliminate bacteria)

HAIR LOSS PREVENTION BLEND/RECIPE
This blend is great for those of us using medications that cause hair shedding. Or those of us who have autoimmune diseases resulting in hair loss. I use this blend regularly and have noticed that my hair falls out less and I grow new hair much faster.
There are several oils that can be used for hair loss, the following blend is the one that I routinely use. Sweet Basil oil is also widely known for hair loss help so you could add that in to the blend as well.
Carrier/Base: chose Witch Hazel, Castor Oil or Coconut Oil (I use witch hazel because I find that it does not make my hair oily or greasy, but castor oil is reportedly better for your hair regrowth)
Oil #1: Cedarwood
Oil #2: Rosemary
Oil #3: Thyme
Oil #3: Lavender
Oil #4: Frankincense
Step 1: Fill a large glass amber vial 3/4 of the way full with your carrier of choice. I use witch hazel but coconut oil or castor oil can also be used. **Note that if you chose to use coconut oil, after putting it into the amber glass bottle use the heat from your hands to melt it to a liquid state each time you use the blend and before adding in your oils. This will allow the application to be easier and the oils to mix better.
If you chose to use castor oil, the benefits are amazing on hair and scalp, but it is hard to wash out and I find that I can only use this once in a while. I try to incorporate it at least a few times a month but witch hazel is the easiest, in my opinion, to use.
Step 2: Drop in 20-40 drops of Cedarwood oil (this is my favorite for hair loss, i saw a huge improvement when I added this one in to the blend. It stimulates hair follicles and slows hair loss)
Step 3: Drop in 15-25 drops of Rosemary oil (great for hair health, keeping your existing hair strong)
Step 4: Drop in 20-30 drops of Thyme (increases circulation to the scalp encouraging more hair growth)
Step 5: Drop in 10-15 drops of Lavendar (smells great and adds a calming effect to the scalp)
Step 6: Drop in 5-15 drops of Frankincense (this will cleanse and decrease any inflammation on the scalp to allow the hari to grow)
Step 7: Gently combine oils and carrier
Step 8: apply to scalp and roots wherever is needed before bed (at least allow 30 minutes to penetrate before washing)
if any burning or irritation occurs wash immediately and try just one oil at a time before resuming protocol
IMMUNE SYSTEM BOOSTER
I am currently on Remicade which destroys my immune system. Since I am a nurse (and a mom of 2 small kiddos) I am constantly bombarded with germs! I use this immune boost to help keep me well. This blend can be diffused anywhere (house, car, work, etc) or applied to the skin. I will admit that I have tried ingesting these oils, however, with my very touchy digestive system ingestion is just not for me. If you want to try to ingest essential oils, PLEASE PLEASE do your research. These are very potent and can hurt your system. There is a great debate over whether or not ingestion is safe. Use your own brains and decide what works for you personally. Do your research!
One other note, I usually use thieves oil which is a blend made by Young Living, but this blend is made without it incase you don’t want to use young living or already have oils that you are using.
Carrier/Base: Distilled water
Oil #1: Lemon
Oil #2: Frankincense
Oil #3: Tea Tree or Maleluca
Oil #4: Eucalyptus
Oil #5: Orange
Oil #6: Cinnamon
Recipe: This blend can be rolled onto the bottom of the feet on the chest or diffused into the air with a diffuser or even added to a hot bath **if this blend is added to hot bath OMIT the maleluca or tea tree oils**
To Roll onto feet:
combine 10 drops of each of the above oils to roller bottle with carrier oil of your choice (coconut oil, olive oil, witch hazel…etc)
To diffuse into the air:
Add the appropriate amount of distilled water to your diffuser
Add 2-5 drops of each oil
Diffuse all day!
To add to a hot bath:
**if this blend is added to hot bath OMIT the maleluca or tea tree oils** – these oils are ‘hot’ in nature and can cause irritation to the skin, I would not advise sitting in a hot bath with this oil
Urinary Tract infection Fighter
I use this blend every time I even remotely feel a UTI coming on and it works wonders! combine this oil regimen with Dmannose Supplementation and cranberry supplements or juice.
I use purification, a young living blend in this blend. If you chose to purchase young living oils and want help with UTI issues I strongly recommend purification. see the following blend below to help with symptoms.
Carrier/Base: coconut oil
Oil #1: Lemongrass
Oil #2: Frankincense
Oil #3: Lavender
Oil #4: Peppermint
Combine 2-5 drops of all oils listed above with carrier oil and apply directly to bladder area of abdomen
I will sometimes apply a moist heat on top of the oils as well
apply at least twice per day
This blend is what I use for crohn’s pains
I get these pains in my joints from inflammation, on my right side from ulceration in that part of my bowel and from inflammation and all over my belly. You can use this blend wherever you might feel pain. I will admit that while this blend helps with my pain a lot, there are many times when prescription strength pain killers are needed. However, in my mind if I can avoid those even once or twice to use oils that is a win for me. So, I always try my oils first. They always help at least a little.
This blend can be applied directly to the area or diffused (there are some people who will ingest this blend, or one close to it. I do not ingest it at this point)
Carrier Oil: Olive Oil or Coconut Oil or organic Shea Butter
Oil #1: Balsam Fir (I LOVE this oil! it helps with pain and inflammation as well as feeling sad)
Oil #2: Copaiba
Oil #3: Frankincense
Oil #4: Peppermint
Oil #5: Ylang Ylang
Oil #6: Ginger (also good for nausea and upset stomach, rub right onto abdomen)
Combine the carrier oil with 5-10 drops of each oil and rub directly onto the affected area
apply at least 4 times a day or more often if needed
This is a great blend to diffuse if you are going through a flair up or just feeling crappy
It can also be used for family members with a stomach bugs or upset stomachs
Carrier of your choice
Oil #1: Ginger
Oil #2: Peppermint
Oil #3: Lemon
Oil #4: Grapefruit
Oil #5: Lavender
Combine the carrier with 5 drops of each oil
Rub directly onto belly and diffuse into the air.
